I use to store passwords and files when moving between offices and customers. It has confidential data that is all password protected. Last week it stopped working, i.e. The U3 software doesnt start and also the red / orange light that starts flashing away when it is in use doesnt work anymore. In disk manager is shows a 16MB partition? I have tried a few tools and nothing can find any lost partitions? I cannot reformat it as it doesnt see that it is an 8gn drive.
Any suggestions or special tools to try? Had a look around but couldn't find any threads with the same problems. I've had a Sandisk 8GB Cruzer for about a year and has always been fine.
Last week I put some music on the drive and gave it to my dad. I have just put the drive back into my laptop and it is telling me the capacity of it is 3.73 GB? All of the folders on the drive have been replaced and named things like 'mbb2files', and inside these are really small files and images such as the facebook logo? Not sure what is going on here!? Could this be something that happens if you don't safely remove or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This type of USB drive isn't very expensive so I don't mind having to buy a new one, I was just curious as to what might have happened to avoid it happening in future.
The answer to your problem is a soft called Active@KillDisk,ive actually just finished using it on a 16Gig Flash drive whos capacity was down to iGig. Run Active@KillDisk and in the tree on the left pick out your FlashDrive and tick all the appropriate boxes, then go up the top to the button bar and click on Kill its a slow process but let it do its job,it took me just over an hour for the 16Gig. Once Active @KillDisk has finished all you have to do is reformat the FlashDrive, you may have to use another computer for this for some reason my computer wouldnt recognise the flash drive but once in another box it was easy to reformat the thing, now its back to its full capacity thanks to Active @killDisk. Aha, well, then the simplest thing to do (if you have files to lose), it is following: 1 - As your Pendrive infected (virus 'AutoRun Recycler'), you have to check before that PCs in the plugs, have an updated Antivirus functioning, and are not infected. 2 - If you can not do this check, do not use any more Pendrive, and gift it to you. 3 - If you can do the testing, see, then plugging that you get any Poster Antivirus and alerting the problem is solved.
4 - Then go to the Start menu and open the 'My Computer' folder. 5 - Here you will see a series of icons of disks, and you choose one that will tell 'Disco external' 8GB or 'Removable Disk' 8GB, etc. 6 - Then click on it with the right mouse button, and the menu comes out, you press the button Left on 'Format'. Attention: Make sure it's your Pendrive 8GB. 7 - You will get a new menu where you choose 'Quick Format', and wait a moment. 8 - Finally, you can 'Open' your USB flash drive, and you will see that it is 'clean'. 9 - And so you can use perfectly and no need to install anything to use it.
10 - Y 'Colorin Colorado', este cuento ha terminado. Regards, Alfred. (translated by Google). I was the happy owner a 8gb sandisk extreme contour but someone managed to steal it from me. So time to look for a new drive. When i look for 32/64gb drive, i came across a lot of name like: Cruzer Blade Cruzer Edge Cruzer Slice Sandisk Ultra Sandisk Ultra Backup.
Can someone please enlighten me to as the differences between all of them since I am quite lost with the new terms? I will be out of UK by end of June and need to make a choicebefore that. What online site offer the lowest price for the sandisk? Hello, I'm a long time Sandisk fan user, but in these last months I'm very disappointed with sandisk products.
For example: - I buyed a Cruzer Edge 16GB. It is very slow compared to my old Cruzer Micro 8GB. Only 4MB/s in writing instead of 8MB/s??? (test are done on the same machine, on the same USB port, and are both FAT32 formatted; tests done with 'h2testw' and other speed test programs) It seems that writing is very high if you limit to write a file of only 8/16 MB, but as soon as you write something bigger (128 MB or more), the speed drammaticaly reduces to 4MB/s. This doesn't happen with the old Cruzer micr 8GB.
the other problem (always on speed) is on a new microSD 'Ultra' (???) 8GB card (class 10!!) on my Android phone; it is slower that my old Sony 4gb (class 4) (I will post my tests on the forum) I think that Sandisk has to reconsider its production process:-(. Hi there, Couple of weeks ago we received the new SanDisk Cruzer Ultra flash drives that were supposed to be the fastest Sandisk flash drives as Cruzer Titanium and Contour were discountinued many time ago ( I never understand why, they were excellent flash drives). We opened a 8Gb Cruzer Ultra, SanDisk announces it as a 15MB/s transfer speed (in the retail packaging do not appear if it means read or write speed).
We run the Cruzer Ultra with the CrystalDiskMark 3.0 sofware and here are the results: Performance test was made under Windows 7. Maybe SanDisk are referring the 15MB/s to the read speed and not to write speed? Waiting your comments, MemoryVal www.amazon.co.uk/shops/A11I77QYT25RM7www.facebook.com/memoryvalwww.twitter.com/memoryvalwww.memoryval.comwww.youtube.com/memoryval. From the small print on the sandisk website. Looks like write is only up to 10MB/s and that is only for the first 20MB transfered. Your bench marking tests surly are transferring more than 20MB so they are probably showing the transfer speed after the first 20MB transferred. †† Up to 15MB/s read speed.
Up to 10 MB/sec write speed applies to the first 20 MB of data transfer. Based on SanDisk internal testing; performance may be lower depending upon host device. 1 megabyte (MB) = 1 million bytes.. Hi Alka, It seems that, you are facing issue with using SanDisk Cruzer Blade 8GB USB on your computer.

How can I make it BOOTABLE?? I forgot my DVDRW drive overseas, and I want to do a fresh install onto my SSD from the USB drive. I have the source files on my USB Flash Drive.
Is there any way to either boot from it? How do I make it bootable?Or should I just install 'over it'?? Even if that's possible, I'd really rather not go that route.
Again, I do not have my DVDRW drive with me. But at least now I can boot from the SSD, and test its performance. One of which was installing Vista from scratch. I find the boot-time unacceptable, especially the time it takes from when the desktop appears to the time the Welcome screen shows up. It seems to stall, loading something, stall again, and then finally resuming to a workable desktop 'post-Welcome Screen'.Please help!!
I just got this drive. I have USB 2.0.
Thanks everyone! I have bought a new sandisk cruzer blade 8gb.I have copied all the folders and applications came within it.I have not installed them.My OS is windows7 home basic.I have formatted the pendrive and copied a movie in it.From then it became write protected.I could not copy or format it anymore. It is saying that it is 'Write Protected'.What to do? How to remove this protection.? I want to use it as a normal pendrive working with all OS without any problem. My Sandisk is SDCZ50-008GB. The device is formatted as FAT32 and the largest file size FAT32 can handle is 4GB. You have two options, 1.
Convert the format to NTFS or 2. Split your 4GB file into smaller pieces. If you can't convert the format to NTFS but rather can only do a reformat to NTFS then be sure to backup all the files on the drive including the hidden U3 system folder and restore them after you do the reformat.
If you don't backup the hidden system folder you will loose all your U3 apps since SanDisk doesn't have them online any longer. OK I lost my Cruz. I want the inform I have stored in the vault. How can I get back that inform. Also my computer had crashed since I had last used the Cruz and a new hard driver installed. I have been emailing Sandisk over the last week and they keep sending me here.
I do get little bit more inform on my situation but the this speed it will be a few months. All I want to do is get into my vault and get my pics.
And tax inform that i foolishly uploaded. If i were to buy another SanDisk could i get into the account and have all my infor.? EdP wrote: Try RMPrepUSB. If it doesn't resolve the problem you may to resort to manually changing items with TestDisk which of course is risky.
Or Tiny Hexer, which is riskier still. I have a 16 GB SanDisk Cruzer, let me see if I can find something useful for you. RMPrepUSB is quite a nifty thing.
It didn't fix the problem, but it was sure interesting to play with. I tried most all the relevant options. At the end, the drive is trivially smaller than before.:-) Anyway, I have the USBInfo.Txt file. In pertinent part: Disk Signature bytes (1B8h-1BBh) = 12 98 08 00 Partition 1 SIZE=7506.905MiB Type: 0B FAT32 (2047GB max).ACTIVE.
START POS = CYL:0 HD:1 SEC:1 END POS = CYL:956 HD:254 SEC:63 START (LBA) = 63 (0000003F) SIZE (LBA) = 15,374,142 (00EA973E) This geometry is now different from what I had before I went all destructo. I had 255/63/973 heads/sectors-per-track/cylinders, with 1563408 sectors, earlier in GParted. So I have fewer cylinders (and therefore total sectors) now. I'd be mightily interested in what your Cruzer says. I did read in the RMPrepUSB dialogs that the max possible cylinder setting is not at all as high as what I tried in TestDisk before. But I'm more interested in knowing what the sector size on yours is. If it's 1024 instead of 512, that would be an easy answer.

The drive has the hidden second partition that causes the extra 126 MiB at the end versus the drive I cloned. That might or might not account for the 'missing' cylinders.
I did the testing a couple of times, once with the tickbox checked for that extra hardware bit, and I can't remember which test this was I'm reporting the results of. Hi, its quite simple. If you tried it in other computers and it works then its your computer at fault. If the memory stack fails on others it is the memory stick. If it is a problem with the memory stick and its out of warranty you could try opening it up and looking at the solder joints. Constant use, with hot and cold can cause them to weaken and break.
You maybe able to add some pressure on the memory stick to 'make' a good connection then take docs off or you may try fixing it yourself. If you wanna have a look at that here is a page on fixing memory sticks. If you dont fancy doing that and are desperate for the content there are companies that offer the service where you pay nothing if they recover nothing from broken devices.
I upgraded my USB stick to an 8Gb Cruzer. Everything looked fine after installing the U3 software and transferring all the data over. But then I tried to connect to open up a browser and connect to the internet and kept getting page not found in the new window for pages I was browsing in the U3 installation window. Turns out that I can now only browse the Internet via the Cruzer stick. I've switched browsers from IE to Mozilla, no change, then upgraded IE6 to IE8 still no change.I'm now only able to browse the net if I first plug in the micro cruzer and then start a connection using the 'sandisk U3 Website' link!
Anyone else had this problem and solved it? Hi, can anyone out there tell me whether or not my 'Sandisk Cruzer Micro U3 8GB(SDCZ6) Device ver 8.02' will run the U3 software on Vista?? Iam at the point of not using the U3 software, even though its pretty great on XP. Basically, as instructed by Sandisk Support, I updated the U3 Launcher to version 1.6.1.2 using an XP machine, great that worked on XP, however it doesnt work using a Vista machine. I constantly get an error message saying that this software only works with XP, 2000 and 2003.
Ive done exactly what Sandisk Support stated, but it just will not work. Cheers, David.
How big is the file you are trying to copy to the device? The cruzer is formatted in FAT32 and this filesystem has a limit where each file can be no larger than 4GB. Ifthe file you are transferingis larger than 4GB try using disk utility to reformat the drive as mac os extended journaled then transfer the file.
This will make the drive unusable on windows pcs but it will let you transferfiles larger than 4GB. Once you have moved the file you can use disk utility to format the drive back in FAT32 (called ms-dos file type in MAC).
I have had a sandisk cruzer pop for about 3 years now and all of a sudden it has lost all its volumes and partitions and i cant put more back on it, it comes up as being plugged in on all pcs i plug it in on though. Please help i need it for school work. It says its empty and has no files on it but for some reason with microsofts own diskpart it wont let me create a volume or partition on it?
And in disk management it comes up as not initilaze but with the button to initialize blurred out. I have tried on latest mac OS X and windows 8.1 Please someone help me fix this problem or tell me wether it is faulty because it is still under warrannty. Ok, I surrender. Is it so hard to understand what I'm asking for?
One pendrive manufacturer says (for an imaginary pendrive): Max read rate: 50 Mb/s, Max write rate: 30 Mb/s Ok, those are max, theorical, in optimal conditions, read and write rates, those are the hardware max rates. I KNOW that I NEVER will get those rates, but if Sandisk says that they have a pendrive that does: Max read rate: 100 Mb/s, Max write rate: 60 Mb/s.
I can imagine that in theorical optimal conditions, sandisk pendrive.CAN. be twice faster than the other, that's to say, Sandisk hardward, isolated from my MB hardware, isolated from my O.S., is twice faster than the other. In REAL conditions, it's is supposed that Sandisk pendrive is faster than the other (probably not twice faster), but I have information from both two manufacturers and I can compare. I'm I asking for something too difficult?
And I repeat, I prefer Sandisk gives me max theorical transfer rates in optimal conditions rather than Sandisk gives me nothing. The summary of my request is that I'd rather have ANYTHING than nothing.
Hi, i purchased a cruzer switch 16gb online and few days ago i stored some data on it of about 8gb. But now when i am using it in windows 7 its not working. I read many issues related to this on various online forums including sandisk forum and nothing resolved my problem. One of your post stated to uninstall driver and reinstall it, i did the same but i think it get more worse. Befor uninstalling it was showing under usb controller as 'cruzer switch' and now its showing under other devices. I dont know deeply about this drivers, hardwares, softwares stuffs so please guide me.
If it is any failure on part of the device then, is it the quality sandisk providing to the customers. Kindly help me correcting my device and recover my data asap.
