Atheros Ar5005g Driver Windows 7 64 Bit

Posted By admin On 19.09.19

Hi, I have an ACER Aspire 5100-3357 originally on Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, then free upgrade to Windows 10. The install took 24 hours and very slow processing after and not full functionality. Task Manager showed high CPU usage due to system interrupts. Started disabling devices and found the Atheros AR5005G wireless network adapter when disabled returned all to normal.

Appears to be functioning fully except no wifi. Tried to download 'Driver Detective', but did not solve problem. There are a bunch of sites out there claiming to have the correct driver. Tried to re-enable driver and CPU usage and system interrupts reoccurred. Tried to update driver, driver most current per windows. Have not contacted Microsoft Support yet.

Any suggestions on getting the right driver that will not cause CPU usage and system interrupts problems? Hi Tim, Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. I understand the inconvenience you are facing currently. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I'm running an Atheros AR5005G wifi adapter on my Acer Aspire 5102 with WIN 10 64-bit. I have found that any version of the Atheros driver BEFORE 10.x.x.x will work. I am currently running 9.x.x.x and all is well.sorry I don't recall all the version numbers UNFORTUNATELY Win 10 regularly does a driver update check and then re-installs the latest 10.0.0.352 driver.

This results in 100% cpu load and causes problems. About once a month I then have to do a driver ROLLBACK to get back to version 9.x.x.x. Hope this helps.Dale.
